Covid-19: Brazil Counts 1,100 Deaths and 36,600 Cases in Past 24 Hours (September 15th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – In the past 24 hours, Brazil recorded 1,113 deaths and 36,653 new cases related to the novel coronavirus. The data are included in the Ministry of Health’s daily balance released on Tuesday evening, September 15th.

Since the start of the pandemic, 133,119 people have died as a result of Covid-19. On Monday, the Ministry of Health’s data system recorded a total of 132,006 deaths. A further 2,445 are still under investigation by health authorities.

According to the daily report, the number of people diagnosed with Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic has reached 4,382,263. In the Ministry of Health’s panel, the number of cumulative cases on Monday stood at 4,345,610.

From the total infections, 3,671,128 have recovered from Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic, representing 83.8 percent. Currently, 578,016 patients are under treatment, representing 13.2 percent.

On Tuesdays, the figures are typically higher due to the record backlog submitted to the Ministry of Health’s panel.

Lethality (number of deaths by the total of cases) stood at three percent. Mortality (number of deaths per 100,000 inhabitants is 63.3. The incidence (total of cases per 100,000 inhabitants) rose to 2085.3.

Covid-19 in the states

São Paulo is the state with the highest number of deaths (32,963) but has been presenting a drop in indicators. Five weeks ago, São Paulo recorded a decrease in the rolling average of daily deaths and two weeks ago, a reduction in the rolling average of cases. The drop is gradual, but it has been steady.

Rio de Janeiro records the second-highest number of deaths (17,180); followed by Ceará (8,739), Pernambuco (7,914), and Pará (6,387).

The states with the lowest number of deaths to date are Roraima (611), Acre (642), Amapá (682), Tocantins (822), and Mato Grosso do Sul (1,106).
