Covid-19: Brazil Counts Six Million Cases, Almost 170,000 Deaths (November 23rd)
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – With 302 deaths recorded over the past 24 hours, the total number of deaths by Covid-19 in Brazil now totals 169,485. Up to Sunday, the system registered 169,183 deaths. There are a further 2,202 deaths under investigation.
The data are from the Ministry of Health’s daily update, disclosed on Monday night, November 23rd. The update is made based on information forwarded by the state Health Secretariats.
The number of cumulative cases since the start of the novel coronavirus pandemic has reached 6,087,608. Between Sunday and Monday, 16,207 new positive diagnoses of the disease were recorded.

Still according to the Ministry’s balance, there are 473,028 patients in follow-up. Another 5,445,095 people have recovered from the disease.
In general, case figures are lower on Sundays and Mondays due to data feeding challenges by state Health Secretariats. On Tuesdays, they may be higher due to the accumulation of updated records.
Covid-19 in the states
The states with the highest number of Covid-19 deaths are São Paulo (41,276), Rio de Janeiro (22,028), Minas Gerais (9,794), Ceará (9,492), and Pernambuco (8,926).
The states with the fewest deaths from the disease are Acre (714), Roraima (720), Amapá (792), Tocantins (1,148), and Rondônia (1,522).
