Covid-19: Brazil Exceeds Five Million Cumulative Cases (October 7th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil has passed the milestone five million Covid-19 cases since the start of the pandemic. In the past 24 hours, 31,553 new diagnoses of the disease have been recorded, totaling 5,000,694. Through Tuesday, the database on the novel coronavirus registered 4,969,141.

The information was provided by the Ministry of Health in its daily update, released on Wednesday evening, October 7th.

The number of deaths since the start of the pandemic reached 148,228. Between Tuesday and Wednesday, the State Secretariats added 734 deaths caused by Covid-19. Through Tuesday, the Ministry of Health’s system recorded 147,494 deaths. There are still 2,482 deaths under investigation.

The Ministry of Health’s report recorded 461,042 cases still under follow-up. So far, 4,391,424 people have recovered from the disease.

São Paulo (36,669)

Rio de Janeiro (18,969)

Ceará (9,094)

Pernambuco (8,379)

Minas Gerais (7,811)

The states with fewest deaths:

Roraima (666)

Acre (668)

Amapá (722)

Tocantins (985)

Mato Grosso do Sul (1,385)
