Covid-19: Brazil has lowest moving daily average of cases since February -VEJA survey

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The survey conducted by VEJA shows that Covid-19 contagion is falling. This Monday, July 5, the moving daily average of cases in Brazil recorded the lowest number since February 23 this year. This means that the average number of people infected each day has fallen.

The scenario is a steady decline in both cases and deaths from the disease. The evaluation is done by infectiologists. They note that a deviation greater than 15% in relation to the figure presented two weeks ago, indicates a turning point for a change in trend. For the past six days, Brazil has recorded a decrease of more than 15% in both indices, indicating that the pandemic situation is currently improving.

The moving average of cases Monday was 33.08% lower than two Mondays ago, while the moving average of deaths was 23.25% lower than the same period.

In the past 24 hours, 22,703 new positive diagnoses and 695 new deaths from Covid-19 have been recorded in Brazil. In the overall pandemic, there are 18,792,511 infected and 525,112 deaths nationwide.

The calculation of the moving averages consists of adding all the records of the last seven days and dividing the sum by seven. This makes it possible to get a broad overview of the current status of the pandemic.
