Covid-19: Brazil Records 1,367 Deaths and 41,008 New Cases in 24 Hours (July 21st)
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Ministry of Health’s daily balance on Tuesday, July 21st, shows that a further 1,367 deaths from Covid-19 and 41,008 new confirmed cases of the disease have been recorded over the preceding 24 hours.
This brings the total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic to 81,487. To illustrate the figure, it is almost the total population of the port city of Paranavaí, in Paraná. The city has 88,374 inhabitants, according to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

The total number of cumulative confirmed cases of the disease rose to 2,159,654. The number is higher than the total population of Curitiba. The capital of Paraná has 1,933,105 inhabitants, according to the IBGE.
Since the start of the pandemic, Paraná has registered 57,538 novel coronavirus cases and 1,415 deaths. The state ranks 13th among the most affected by Covid-19 in Brazil. At the top of the list are São Paulo, Ceará and Rio de Janeiro.
Data from the Ministry of Health show that 1,465,970 people have recovered from Covid-19 in Brazil, a rate of 67.9 percent. Currently, 612,197 patients throughout the country are under follow-up.
The lethality rate (number of deaths by the total of cases) stood at 3.8 percent. Mortality (number of deaths per 100,000 inhabitants) reached 38.8. The incidence of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants stands at 1027.7.
