Covid-19: Brazil Records 363 New Deaths (September 20th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – According to the latest update from the Ministry of Health, 363 more people have died of Covid-19 in Brazil on Sunday, September 20th. This raises the total number of deaths to 136,895 since March 27th.

The lethality rate (number of deaths by total cases) stood at three percent. Mortality (number of deaths per 100,000 inhabitants) reached 65.1. The incidence of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants stands at 2,162.6. The data are from the Ministry of Health and are available on its website.

According to yesterday’s update, 16,389 infections were confirmed. The balance totals 4,544,629 cases of infection by the novel coronavirus. According to the Ministry of Health, 3,851,227 people have recovered after infection – approximately 85 percent of total cases.

The Southeast region records a total of 1.581 million cases of Covid-19 infection, followed by the Northeast region with 1.272 million cases. A total of 600,8 thousand cases were reported in the North of the country, 545,2 thousand in the South, and over 544 thousand cases in the Midwest.

The state of São Paulo (the most populous) records the highest number of infections. Since the start of the pandemic in Brazil, the state records 935,300 cases. In this period, 33,952 Covid-19 deaths have occurred.
