Covid-19: Brazil Records 863 Deaths, 32,058 New Cases in 24 Hours (September 29th)
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Ministry of Health’s daily bulletin, released on Tuesday, September 29th, shows that Brazil has recorded 4,777,522 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.
Of this total, 2.9 percent of cases resulted in death (142,921); 10.5 percent of patients are under treatment (499,513); and 86.6 percent of Brazilians who contracted Covid-19 have recovered (4,134,088).
In the past 24 hours, 863 deaths and 32,058 new confirmed cases were recorded. Cases are lower on Sundays and Mondays due to the constraints in feeding the database by the Health Secretariat teams. On Tuesdays, the figure has been higher due to the submission of data accumulated over the weekend.

Health authorities are still investigating whether a further 2,501 deaths were caused by coronavirus.
São Paulo records the best Tuesday since May
In the past 24 hours, the state of São Paulo has recorded 266 deaths and 6,377 cases of the novel coronavirus. As a result, the state has totaled 35,391 deaths and 979,519 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic.
On Tuesdays, due to data accumulated during weekends, the balance of cases and deaths is always higher, even breaking records. However, yesterday, September 29th, the death toll was the lowest ever recorded for a Tuesday since May 26th, when 203 deaths were recorded. This was only interrupted on September 8th, which followed the extended holiday of September 7th, when 53 deaths were recorded.
But the balance for September 8th may have been affected by the data accumulated because of the holiday. August 13th was the date the state of São Paulo recorded the most deaths in a single day, with 455 reported fatalities.
Of the total number of cases diagnosed, 847,418 people have recovered, 107,415 after hospitalization.
There are 9,076 patients hospitalized with suspected or confirmed Covid-19 cases, 3,954 of whom are in critical condition. The intensive care unit (ICU) bed occupancy rate stands at 44.4 percent throughout the state and 42.9 percent in Greater São Paulo.
