RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) informed on Wednesday, in a press release, that a new shipment of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API), used to produce the covid-19 Oxford/AstraZeneca type vaccines, is expected to be received this Saturday.
According to the foundation’s calculations, the volume will be enough to produce about 10 million doses of the immunizer.
According to Fiocruz, the delivery will be made for vaccine production at the Foundation’s manufacturing unit at the Institute of Technology in Immunobiologicals (Bio-Manguinhos/Fiocruz).
In practice, the new shipment will enable deliveries in August, after the final processing and quality control stages are completed. Fiocruz also informed that it expects new API shipments next month.
