Neither Brazil nor the USA: Where the scariest Covid-19 story is playing out

After six weeks of decline, coronavirus cases in Europe rose 9% in the last week and the continent passed the 1 million cases weekly mark.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Right now, a year into the pandemic, the scariest Covid-19 story is not in Brazil. Nor in Texas, where its governor is still pretending he might be able to ignore the pandemic into oblivion.

Rather the most alarming situation is in Europe. There, for unclear reasons, the pandemic appears to be in the earliest stages of resurgence.
