Over 80 million Brazilians have received the first Covid-19 vaccine dose

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The number of people administered at least one vaccine dose against Covid-19 in Brazil on Wednesday, July 7, reached 80,864,685, equivalent to 38.19% of the total population.

In the last 24 hours, 2,390,026 people were administered the first shot, according to data collected by the media consortium from health secretariats in 26 States and the Federal District.

Among the more than 80 million people vaccinated, 28.7 million are now fully immunized against the coronavirus, either with the second shot or with single-dose vaccines. The total represents 13.6% of the population.

In the last 24 hours, 613,300 people were administered the second dose and another 388,000 received the single-dose vaccine. In total, Brazil administered 3,391,427 doses on Wednesday. The high number of administrations is due to Rio de Janeiro, which computed data that had been suppressed in recent days.

In proportional terms, São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul are the states that have vaccinated the most so far: 44.86% and 44.74% of their populations have been administered at least the first dose, respectively. The lowest percentage is found in Mato Grosso, where 23.66% received the vaccine.

In absolute figures, the highest number of people vaccinated with the first dose is also in São Paulo (20.7 million), followed by Minas Gerais (7.59 million) and Rio de Janeiro (6.12 million).
