PAHO: Covid Situation in Brazil Worrisome, Amid Indications of Second Wave

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), regional office of the World Health Organization (W.H.O.), stated on Wednesday, December 9th, that the situation of Covid-19 in Brazil is worrisome, with the health system under pressure amid the growth of cases of the disease.

The director of the organization's Department of Diseases, Marcos Espinal, mentioned "indications" of a second wave of the novel coronavirus in the country and said it was skeptical about the prospect of complete immunization of the South American population as early as 2021.
