Piñera proposes to postpone constituent elections in Chile to May due to the pandemic

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The president of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, proposed this Sunday, March 28th, to Congress the deferral of the municipal and constituent delegate elections set for April 10 and 11 to May 15 and 16, in the midst of the confinement affecting more than 16 million people and an uncontrolled advance of the pandemic in his country.

“Our goal is that before May 15 and 16, we can vaccinate 9.3 million people (…) and allow safer elections”, said the Chilean president in a televised broadcast.
