Rio Samba Schools Announce They Will Only Parade Once Vaccine is Available
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – In the latest VEJA magazine issue, the Radar discloses the position of LIESA (Independent League of the Samba Schools of Rio de Janeiro) members, the organizer of the parade in Sapucaí, who suggest carnival parades can only be considered after the vaccine against the coronavirus has been discovered.

After the Radar disclosure, five major samba schools in Rio told O Globo newspaper that they will only parade in 2021 if the vaccine against the disease is available to ensure everyone’s safety.
Mangueira, Imperatriz Leopoldinense, Vila Isabel, Beija-Flor, and São Clemente said that at the meeting to be held today at the LIESA headquarters, they will vote together to have the celebration deferred indefinitely.
