RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Vaccination against Covid-19 could prevent the deaths of more than 43,000 Brazilians in 2021, according to a study by researchers from the Federal University of Pelotas and Harvard University (USA).
According to the report, in January, deaths caused by the coronavirus in people 70 years old or older accounted for 25% of the total. In May, the number dropped to 16% among those aged 70 to 79, and the decline was even greater among those aged 80 and older, at 12.4%.
