WHO approves emergency use of Chinese Sinopharm vaccine

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The World Health Organization (WHO) today approved the emergency use of the Chinese vaccine Sinopharm against Covid-19, the sixth vaccine it has licensed, after finding that it meets the required safety, efficacy, and security criteria.

The advisory group of immunization experts advising WHO on this matter reviewed the scientific information submitted by the Chinese producer and recommended to the Director-General of the Organization to proceed with its approval to have a new tool to curb the pandemic.

This approval will allow the COVAX platform to enter into negotiations with Sinopharma to purchase its vaccines . . .
