Journalist Augusto Nunes Attacks Glenn Greenwald on “Panico” Radio Show
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Journalist Augusto Nunes, from Jovem Pan, Veja e Record, attacked Glenn Greenwald, from The Intercept, on Thursday, November 7th, during his participation in the Jovem Panic program.
The assault happened after Greenwald called Nunes a coward for commenting on his and his husband’s adopted children. After the assault, moderator Emilio Surita interrupted the program for 12 minutes. During the break, Augusto Nunes had left the studio while Greenwald continued the show.
The confusion began shortly after Greenwald asked Nunes if a judge should investigate his family. “We have many political differences, I have no problem being criticized for my work – I criticize him too.”
“But what he did was the ugliest and dirtiest thing I’ve seen in my career as a journalist, including warfare with the CIA, the Obama administration and the British government. He said that a juvenile court judge should investigate our children and decide whether we should lose them. (That) they should return to the adoption system when there is no basis at all for it. Nunes accuses us of neglecting our children. I want to know if he still believes that.”

Glenn’s husband David Miranda, used social networks to comment on the attack. “This villain used our children to attack my husband’s work. He’s so cowardly that he can’t hear the truth face to face and has to become violent. If the media in which he works are serious, they will fire this journalist without ethics or scruples.”
