Re-Registration for Prepaid Cell Phone Clients Begins in Seventeen States

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The re-registering of prepaid cell phone clients started in seventeen states on September 2nd. Users should update their information with their respective operators. The period to provide the information lasts until November 16th. Whoever fails to do so will have their prepaid line blocked.

The third phase of relisting started yesterday and will cover people from the states of Alagoas, Amazonas, Amapá, Bahia, Ceará, Espírito Santo, Maranhão, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte, Pará, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Roraima, Sergipe, and São Paulo.

Users of pre-paid packages will be activated by operators through channels such as text messages, calls or pop-ups on websites. The procedure is applied to users with pending registration. According to the National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL), operators also made service channels available to provide more information about relisting, such as specific pages on their websites and toll-free numbers.

Previous phases

This is the third phase of the initiative. Re-registration had already begun in ten other states: Acre, Federal District, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Rondônia, Tocantins, and Santa Catarina. The first phase took place starting in April in the areas of Area Code 62. In these states, re-registration will be available until October 15th.

According to Anatel, the updating of the information about the users came in answer to problems identified by the lack of precise registrations of the customers.
