Rondônia Orders Withdrawal of “Inappropriate” Library Books, Later Retreats

"Macunaíma", by Mario de Andrade, and "Rebellion in the Backlands", by Euclides da Cunha, also feature in a list of books that would be collected from schools; in a letter, the State Secretariat of Education claims that the works feature 'inappropriate content for children and adolescents'.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The Rondônia State Department of Education had 43 books collected from state public schools and then retreated.
