RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – While winter may be fast approaching in Brazil, for many others, swimsuit season is just around the corner. “Brazilian Bikini Shop is the largest Brazilian beachwear store in the world,” exclaimed Brazilian Bikini Shop owner Gian Marco Guatteri to The Rio Times. “Not even in Brazil is there another site with so many brands of Brazilian beachwear.”

The online shop carries a multitude of styles like Brazilian bikinis, trikinis, one-pieces, sarongs, and pareos from world famous South American designers such as Rio de Sol, Salinas, Maaji, Luli Fama, and Lenny Niemeyer.

“Most of the other beachwear sites in Europe and the U.S. are all selling the same international brands,” explained Guatteri. “But at Brazilian Bikini Shop, we are the only beachwear site to offer a selection of mainly Brazilian brands, along with prestigious and internationally recognized South American brands, like Luli Fama.”

Not only do they have a greater inventory than other online retailers, every brand and outfit carried by Brazilian Bikini Shop has been carefully curated by fashion designer, Suelen Januario, who is also product manager for Rio de Sol, a swimwear company well-known for its stunning, Brazilian inspired bikinis.

“It’s a job where one needs to pay close attention not only to the styles of the different brands, but also to the likes of women and men throughout the world,” explained Januario. “It’s an enormous responsibility.”

In addition to its huge women’s selection, the site carries a large men’s collection including swim trunks, swim shorts, boardshorts, and much more. And to complete any summer wardrobe, Brazilian Bikini Shop offers an array of beach accessories, beach towels, summer jewelry, flip-flops, and sandals, including the iconic Havaianas.

Guatteri launched Brazilian Bikini Shop in Rio de Janeiro in 2003. And while today it is the largest Brazilian beachwear store in the world, like many successful companies, it had humble beginnings.

“We started selling things on Ebay and realized we had great potential with Brazilian beachwear in Europe, Asia and the U.S….[W]e were the first to sell Brazilian brands out of Brazil.”

Today, the website is accessible in 33 languages in over 120 countries. With hundreds of thousands of satisfied customers from all over the world, the site accepts local payment, shipping and returns to the U.S., Canada, Japan, India, Poland, France, Italy, and of course Brazil.

One of the site’s most popular features is the ability to mix and match sets, allowing customers to basically create their own unique swimwear. Customers can choose different sizes for the top and the bottom and even mix different brands and styles like combining a molded cup halter with lowrider bikini bottom.

Interestingly, while the shop has up to now catered to the international market, Guatteri has plans to soon expand the shop’s reach locally in Brazil. “We realize that in Brazil there are no sites with as much beachwear as Brazilian Bikini Shop, so we are going to open a Brazilian version of the site in 2019, at the end of the year just before the Brazilian summer,” he said.

As the online leader in Brazilian beachwear, Guatteri is also focused on Brazilian Bikini Shop’s physical presence in stores, like El Corte Inglés in Portugal where it’s entering its second year in the Spanish department store, and other markets around the world, specifically Asia and Africa.

“Bringing Brazilian beachwear to the world,” Guatteri concluded, “is a way of spreading Brazilian culture and the style of living beyond the borders of Brazil.”
