New 1,000 hp hybrid Ferrari supercar coming to Brazil – for R$6.9 million

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The model boasts several important features: it is the brand’s first plug-in hybrid and one of the rare production cars with 1,000 hp cruising on Brazilian streets. Its price? R$6.9 (US$1.3) million. Other units are expected to come still this year, which depends on the plant’s production availability.

Although it is a production car, not everyone may buy a Ferrari like this one. The interested party needs to have a good history with the brand, as well as other Ferrari models in their garage. This means that the plant needs to analyze the buyer’s profile and only then approve the sale (or not).

The SF90 Stradale is Ferrari’s highest performance model: The super sports car features a 780 hp 3.9 V8 twin-turbo combustion engine – the same as the F8 Tribute, but with 60 extra hp. Three other electric motors are capable of generating an additional 220 hp. The weight is impressive: only 1,570 kg.

One of the electric motors is similar to the type used in Formula 1 cars, the MGU-K “Motor Generator Unit Kinetic”, and is mounted between the main engine and the gearbox. The other two are located in the front wheels.

The 8-speed dual-clutch automated transmission is an upgrade from the 7-speed gearbox already used by the brand. According to Ferrari, it will rocket from 0 to 100 km/h in only 2.5 seconds, and its top speed is 340 km/h. One of the highlights is the aerodynamics designed to apply 390 kilos of downforce at 250 km/h.

The interior has details inspired by aeronautics, such as the controls in the central console. This is also the first model of the brand to have a 16-inch digital instrument panel. The SF90 Stradale also uses the so-called active beam control technology for the LED headlights for the first time.

The SF90 Stradale is named after the Italian racing team’s Formula 1 car. The number 90 is in celebration of Scuderia Ferrari’s 90th anniversary. Visually, the hybrid was inspired by the F8 Tribute model, which is probably why its lines are smoother than other Ferrari models.

The Maranello manufacturer has finally surrendered to the new reality. The result is a hybrid supercar: the most powerful Ferrari ever now in Brazil.
