RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The arrival of Android 10 was officially announced last Tuesday, September 3rd by Google and this week, dozens of models will receive the system update. The Pixel line devices, marketed by Google itself, will be the first to receive the new version.
Most of the devices that left the factory with Android 9 Pie will probably be supported by the new version of Android as long as the hardware is compatible.
This does not mean that all models will be able to adapt. For example, the Huawei Y9 2019 has intermediate configuration and has Android 9 Pie, but is not on the list of models that will be updated.
About the new features
- Focus Mode – the display of notifications received special attention from developers. They are useful, but can also be annoying. It is now possible to temporarily pause the display of notifications that are sent by some applications. This feature is useful to avoid distractions as users desire.
- Live Caption- it is a feature that automatically displays available subtitles for any video, podcast or audio messages sent by applications. This kind of functionality is not new. Before it was necessary to install apps developed by third parties and now it is an Android function.
- Dark Mode – following a trend of other programs and operating systems, finally, the dark mode is available on Android. This means that it will now be possible to activate it without having to install third-party applications to change the default Android theme. Among the advantages of using Dark Mode are increased battery life due to energy savings, and increased visual comfort in using the device in low-light environments. However, apps also need to have night mode.
- AR in Search – this is one of the most amazing features in the new version of Android. It is now possible to combine the results of searches with 3D animations of augmented reality.
- Privacy – Android 10 provides 50 privacy setting options. One of them, for example, has made it easier to define which apps will have access to the location, which simplifies the process of enabling and disabling the feature.
