RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – On Wednesday, October 30th, Bangu Shopping mall, located in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, will host a special concert as part of its 12th anniversary celebration: “The Dark Side of The Moon”, a re-reading of Pink Floyd’s iconic album, will be performed by the Petrobras Symphony Orchestra (OPES), in partnership with the Aliansce Sonae Series, one of Aliansce Sonae Shopping Centers’ most successful cultural projects, which has reached its 6th edition.

Released 45 years ago, the album ranks third in the list of best sellers in history, with over 50 million copies sold.

The performance will be held at Theatro Bangu Shopping, under the coordination of maestro Felipe Prazeres. The ‘Academia Juvenil da Orquestra Petrobras Sinfônica’ includes young students from numerous music schools and community orchestras in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro.

“This is the 6th year in which our orchestra visits the latest and most revolutionary stages in Brazil, the shopping malls throughout the country. What might seem like an uncommon attempt to meet an audience more interested in shopping than in culture, turned out to be the most daring and creative event of the Petrobras Symphony Orchestra.”

“The alternative is clear: artists are looking for new venues. It’s their second nature and the driving force of their art,” said Isaac Karabtchevsky, the artistic director and head conductor of OPES.

For Renato Rique, CEO of Aliansce Sonae, the renewal of the Aliansce Sonae Series reaffirms the company’s commitment to the promotion of culture in communities close to its enterprises.

“The partnership with the Petrobras Symphony Orchestra is a source of pride for us. It is very gratifying to use the reach of our network to provide exciting and unforgettable experiences to our customers and partners,” he says.
