Cases of Domestic Violence In Rio de Janeiro Double During Lockdown

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Rio de Janeiro's courts recorded a 50 percent increase in domestic violence cases during the lockdown period to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.

The numbers were disclosed on Monday, March 23rd, by the RJ2.

The activity in the courts remaining on call to handle urgent matters, while most courts are closed surprised the authorities. Most of the people seeking legal help during the quarantine are women victims of violence . . .
