Driver Dies When Shot by Stray Bullet in Rio de Janeiro

Danubia Lima dos Santos Batista, 38, an app driver, lost her life when she was shot by a stray bullet on Saturday, October 19th, in Guadalupe, north zone of Rio de Janeiro.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The woman was carrying two passengers when a shooting broke out between the police and criminals, according to the G1 news website.

According to police sources, two suspects were arrested during the clash. A third suspect managed to escape to the interior of a favela close to the scene.

On Sunday, the State Police explained that the police officers involved in the shooting were patrolling the road where the shooting occurred (Estrada do Camboatá) and that, after a car was stolen, they confronted the suspects.

The woman was rushed to the hospital but did not survive . . .
