Investigations into Marielle Case Will Lead to New Arrests, Says Police Inspector

The director of the Homicide Department of the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police, detective inspector Antônio Ricardo Nunes, said yesterday, September 18th, that investigation into the murder of city councilor Marielle Franco and her driver Anderson Gomes continues.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Police inspector Antônio Ricardo Nunes said the goal is to find out if there was a principal and if so, the police will get to him or her.

"We continue working very hard, and the investigations continue," he said. There is no doubt, he said, that the perpetrators of the crime were former police officers Ronnie Lessa and Élcio Queiroz, who have been detained.
