It is no coincidence that the kiosk was voted the most sustainable kiosk in Rio, having recycled around one ton of material and more than two tons of organic waste turned into fertilizer in July.

For the beach cleanup campaign, a base will be set up in Leblon, next to the La Carioca kiosk. The base will have a tent with water, mate, and support materials for the volunteers.

The Guardians of the Waterfront, an environmental education project, will support it, who will give lectures to raise awareness about recycling and the environment.

In addition, after the Mutirão at 10 a.m., partner Flávio Datz will speak at the kiosk itself, along with Mateus Peçanha, executive director of the Zero Waste Institute and representative of the Zero Waste International Alliance in Brazil, about the actions implemented in the kiosks and the process towards zero waste.

Since 2019, an ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) program has been implemented, creating 35 voluntary drop-off points (PEVs) in kiosks in Ipanema, Leblon, and Copacabana, which recycle more than one hundred tons of waste per month.

The project, Recicla Orla, plans to install 22 more PEVs in Leme and Copacabana by the end of August, which will be available to citizens of the regions for the proper disposal of waste.
