Restaurants, Bars, and Gyms in Rio Ready to Reopen This Thursday

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Following a 4-month shutdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic, bars, restaurants, and gyms in Rio are back in operation on Thursday, July 2nd, under a range of restrictions and the obligation to comply with several safety protocols established by the city government.

Bars and restaurants
Establishments adapt to follow new regulations:
- Half capacity;
- Tables 2 meters apart;
- Preference is given to open areas;
- Self-service remains forbidden;
- Live music is forbidden;
- Opening hours only up to 11 PM.
Gyms
Gym owners and students should also comply with the changes:
- Scheduling of sessions;
- Space of 6.25m² around people;
- Fighting and dancing: no physical contact;
- Sauna, children’s space, and spa forbidden;
- Swimming pool is exclusive for lessons;
- Crossfit without equipment that is difficult to sanitize.
