Rio Records Hottest Day of the Year, at over 52ºC Real-Feel Temperature

The action of a high-pressure system contributed to the heat in the city yesterday, with clear to partially cloudy skies and no rain.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The city of Rio de Janeiro recorded on Thursday, January 30th, the highest temperature of the year this summer. The 'Alerta Rio' ("Rio Alert") system thermometers recorded a maximum temperature of 41.2°C in the Santa Cruz neighborhood station, west side of the city, at 2 PM.
