Man Guns Down Street Dweller in Niterói Because She Asked Him for R$1. See Video

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A man shot a homeless woman after she asked him for R$1 (US$0.23) in the center of Niterói, in the Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro, at the end of the morning on Saturday, November 16th.

Images from security cameras recorded the moment Zilda Henrique dos Santos Leandro, 31, known as Néia, was shot.

In the images, she appears talking and gesturing, until she goes towards a man who passes by the place. He tries to deviate, but Néia accompanies him.

Then the man pulls out his gun and shoots at least twice at the woman. After that, he walks away with the gun in his hand while the victim falls in the middle of the street.

The man was identified as Aderbal Ramos de Castro and is being held at the Niterói Homicide Police Station.

A witness who saw the crime tries to help the victim and waves to a passing car, but nobody stops. The crime happened on Rua Barão de Amazonas, in the center of the city.

According to the Military Police, the victim was was asking the man who shot her for R$1.

After being shot, she was even rescued by firefighters for the Azevedo Lima State Hospital, but she did not resist her injuries and died.
