Rio Mayor Crivella Says Electing His Opponent Will Result in ‘Pedophilia in Schools’

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Controversial current Rio Mayor Marcello Crivella, an envagelical pastor and singer, seems out of control. As if the video in which Crivella called São Paulo governor João Doria a “tramp” and “gay” going viral on the web since last night were not enough, the Mayor of Rio de Janeiro has recorded and is distributing yet another shocking video.

In it, he says that if his competitor Eduardo Paes is elected mayor, he will appoint the leftist PSOL (Socialism and Liberty Party) to the Education Secretariat, and that this will result in “pedophilia in schools”.

Together with Bolsonarist deputy Otoni de Paula, who until months ago said that Crivella was “a terrible administrator,” the mayor attacks PSOL and Paes, his opponent in the second round of elections in Rio de Janeiro.

In the one-minute video, Crivella says atrocities like:

“There’s an enemy that if he could, he would stab Bolsonaro again, which is the PSOL. The PSOL stands with Eduardo Paes. The PSOL, they say, will take care of the Education Secretariat. Now you can imagine… pedophilia in schools. I keep thinking of a brother, an evangelical, a Baptist, a Methodist, an Assemblyist, from Universal… Jesus said to us that the Kingdom of God is for the children. ‘Whoever takes in a child takes me in’. Jesus compared himself to children. And are we going to accept pedophilia in schools, in the kindergarten?”

After carefully listening, Otoni turns to the camera and says: “It’s a risk we’re taking if Eduardo gets elected”.

PSOL has decided to file a lawsuit against Crivella in the Electoral court.

Crivella previously made negative headlines in September 2019, when he ordered a ban on a Marvel Comic Book featuring a gay kiss. Calling the publication unfit to be seen by children and unsuitable for minors, Crivella, ordered a Marvel comic book to be withdrawn from sale at the Rio International Book Fair.
