Police Say Karol Eller Started Fight Over Girlfriend, Discards Homophobia

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The examination of CCTV footage and statements led the Civil Police to conclude that it was YouTuber Karol Eller who started the fight with administrative assistant Alexandre da Silva last Sunday morning, December 15th, at a kiosk in Barra de Tijuca, West Zone of Rio.

According to the investigators, there was no homophobia motivated assault, as alleged by Karol and her girlfriend, the Civil Police Officer Suelen Santos. According to the police, Karol had a fight because she was jealous of her girlfriend.

The two will answer for false witness, as they lied in testimony, according to the detective Adriana Belém.

“We can’t allow that someone uses the police station, the state administrative machine, coming here and lying, using such a noble cause, what homosexuals have achieved, and she was here banalizing it and lying. I think it’s sad, it’s a criminal attitude and we won’t tolerate this kind of thing,” said Belém.

Defense denies

Karol’s defense said there was no mutual assault.

“What I can say is that there was no mutual assault. The images of Karol Eller’s injuries to her attacker speak for themselves. We were not granted access to the police investigation after this news that surprised us,” said lawyer Rodrigo Assef.

Bicycle lane brawl

According to the police, Karol is visibly upset in the footage, lifting her shirt to show the kiosk attendant that she was not armed. Then she orders a drink.

You can then see Carlos Guilherme, Alexandre’s friend, trying to calm her down. But Karol lunges at Alexandre, who was on the bike lane. According to the police, Karol punched Alexandre and pulled him by his shirt.

Then they both fall to the ground, and Alexandre kicks her twice.

The attendant says Karol was armed

The kiosk attendant heard by the police on Thursday, December 19th, said that Karol was upset, handling a gun and tried to attack Alexandre several times. According to him, Alexandre asked the Youtuber to drop the gun.

The attendant said that after the fight, Karol punched her girlfriend, the Civil Police Officer Suelen dos Santos, who owned the gun she would be carrying.

According to the employee, later, Karol fell and slammed her face to the ground, at which point she became unconscious.

The police will investigate whether the injuries to Karol’s face could be caused by a fall.
