Rio Prosecutor’s Office Calls for Government Measures to Diminish Police Lethality

From January to August this year, there were 1,249 deaths in clashes with the police, 16 % more than in the same period of 2018. A recent study, however, showed that there is no direct relationship between an increase in police lethality and a decrease in the crime rate in Rio de Janeiro.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Rio's Prosecutor's Office (MP) has decided to call on the State government to take measures to reduce police lethality in the state.
