Rio de Janeiro records 82% increase in divorces in first half of 2021

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The number of divorces registered in the largest registry office in Rio de Janeiro increased by 82% in the first six months of this year compared to the same period last year.

An exclusive survey conducted by the 15th Notary's Office shows that in the first half of the year, the number of notarized divorces and dissolutions of fixed partnerships reached 395.

In the same period of 2020, at the beginning of the Covid 19 pandemic, 217 records of this type were certified.
