Rio de Janeiro state distributes more than 1 million second vaccine doses
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The State Health Secretariat of Rio de Janeiro will deliver 1,063,260 doses of Oxford/Astrazeneca vaccine to all 92 municipalities in the state on Wednesday, June 23.
In a statement, the state government said that all immunizers will be destined for the application of the second dose of the vaccination scheme.

Rio de Janeiro, Volta Redonda, and Niterói had already made their withdrawal of vaccines between Monday and Tuesday, directly from the General Coordination of Storage Department, in Niterói.
For the other 89 municipalities, the delivery is made by trucks and vans that leave the storage center at 7 AM, accompanied by a state police escort.
“The Secretariat points out how important it is that the municipalities continue to advance in the vaccination against Covid-19 and that the population returns to receive the second dose. Only then will it be possible to achieve the full effectiveness of the vaccine. Studies show that all vaccines available in Brazil are effective against the variants identified so far,” the statement from the state health department said.
