Seven of Ten Rio Neighborhoods Having Most Covid-19 Deaths Lie in City’s West Zone

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – On the list of neighborhoods in the city of Rio with the number of deaths due to Covid-19, the West Zone counts seven out of the ten with the highest number of deaths in the whole capital city.

However, the region with the highest number of fatalities due to the disease in the city is Copacabana, in the South Zone with 35 confirmed reports.

Next are Campo Grande (31); Bangu (28); Realengo (24); Santa Cruz (23); Tijuca (23); Barra da Tijuca (20); Jacarepaguá (13); Vila Isabel (11) and Recreio (11).

The North Zone, with Tijuca and Vila Isabel, includes two neighborhoods in the list of the ten recording the most deaths due to the disease.

According to the latest city report, released on Saturday, the city of Rio records 603 deaths caused by Covid-19 and 6,448 confirmed cases.
