Brazilian Singer Anitta Makes it Onto TIME’s list “The 10 Best Songs of 2019”
By Arkady Petrov
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Singer, songwriter, and actress Anitta has achieved another feat in the rise of her international career. She is the only Brazilian on the “TIME” magazine’s ten best songs of 2019 list, selecting tracks released between January and May of this year.
Her song “Rosa”, resulting from Anitta’s partnership with the American Prince Royce, was described as “trip-hop where the singer makes the most of her seductive voice, singing in a Spanish dispensing translation.”
The magazine also complimented “Brazil’s greatest pop star,” adding that the track “carries traditional Latin rhythms within a contemporary context.”
Two other Latin artists, besides Anitta, appear on the Time’s list, considered one of the most demanding among the American press: “Rebota” by Puerto Rican rapper Guaynaa and “Con Altura”, a partnership between Colombian J Balvin and Spanish artist Rosalía.
“‘Rosa” is present in “Kisses”, an audiovisual project launched by Anitta in April this year, in which the artist sings in Portuguese, Spanish and English, and partners with artists such as Snoop Dogg, Swae Lee and Caetano Veloso. Next month, the carioca will also appear in “Faz Gostoso”, a funk track she recorded in Portuguese with Madonna, for the queen of pop’s new album.
