RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Casa do Minho will host a special edition of the fair Encanta Rio especially for children that is designed to foster a stimulating day of children’s entertainment and learning, while simultaneously providing a day of leisure for adults with fashion, accessories and craft stalls including various stalls of different types of food and beer.

The event will take place at Casa do Minho in Cosme Velho on the Nossa Senhora de Aparecida (Our Lady of Aparecida) holiday Wednesday, October 12th.

Children can participate in a selection of activities such as the playhouse, space for children, a magic show, karaoke, video games, ball pools and surprises.

Singer Guga Sabatie will also perform some of his best hits of Brazilian pop music as well as renditions of classic tunes from Djavan, Roupa Nova and Milton Nascimento to liven the atmosphere.

The success of previous editions has attracted seventy exhibitors to this event to showcase their clothes, accessories, arts, gastronomy and decorations to the expected 1,500 people who will attend. The event, as well as providing a fun channel for children, also promotes small companies in Rio.

The event will be organized by culture producers, Giulia Andrade and Thiago Vichi and will be considered as a leisure option to enjoy during the holiday. “The idea of the event came up from the concept of the ‘varieties fair’ that Rio is enjoying so much at the moment,” explain Giulia Andrade. “This event is a fun option with free entry, and more so, it promotes the Carioca entrepreneurs, both those established in the market a long time and those that are starting their commercial activities and are seeking new clients.”

One of the highlights of the shows is the cupcake workshop with chef Maria Clara Stanzione from Oui Marie Patisserie for children aged five to eleven years old. The workshop will begin with custom-made aprons to set the mood for the mini-chefs and prepare them for the hands-on experience on cupcake making.

Maria Clara will teach the children the traditional vanilla cupcake recipe from Oui Marie Patisserie, giving freedom of creativity in the decorating stage. Any leftovers will adopt the zero waste concept and will be turned into a chocolate cake. At the end of the workshop, each participant will receive a mini-chef certificate and their creations in a specially designed box.

The gastronomy area will serve a wide range of foods from hamburgers to churros, with something to offer for all tastes. There will be vegetarian and vegan options, as well as homemade beers.

“We want people to enjoy themselves,” says Thiago Vichi. “That’s why we have music, good food, exhibitions and space for a good chat. It’s a fair to spend the afternoon with friends or with the family.”

The event will take place on the holiday on Wednesday, October 12th. It will start at 1PM and continue until 10PM. The event is free, yet the cupcake workshop costs R$35 with all ingredients included and the cakes can be taken home after too.
