Elza Soares to Perform at Rio’s Oi Casa Grande this Tuesday

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – This Tuesday, August 28th, Elza Soares will perform at Leblon’s Oi Casa Grande to promote her most recent album, the much-anticipated ‘Deus é Mulher’ (God is a Woman). This will be her first show in Rio since she performed a free concert as part of Virada Sustentável Rio in June.

If anyone can be called ‘larger than life’ it’s Elza Soares. With a career already spanning over six decades – from her first participation in a singing contest presented by Ary Barroso when she was only fifteen, to performing at the opening ceremony of the Rio Olympic Games at the age of almost eighty – Soares still shows no signs of slowing down, releasing her thirty-third album ‘Deus é Mulher’ earlier this year.

With her new album, Elza Soares continues where she left off with 2015’s award-winning ‘A Mulher do Fim do Mundo’ (The Woman at the End of the World), frankly singing about racial inequality, domestic violence, female sexual freedom and LGBT rights, to name just a few themes covered.

This show will be a wonderful spectacle, similar to how legendary music critic Robert Christgau recently described her as ‘holding forth from atop a pyramidal six-foot throne’ with Soares sure to perform her recent singles ‘Banho’ (Bath), ‘Deus Há de Ser’ (God has to be) as well as stand out songs from her recent career, such as ‘A Mulher do Fim do Mundo’ (The Woman at the End of the World) and ‘Luz Vermelha’ (Red Light).
