Johann Sebastian Rio to Perform Amy Winehouse this Wednesday

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – This Wednesday, October 31st, the Johann Sebastian Rio Orchestra will present a special tribute to the late queen of British pop, Amy Winehouse, at the historic Teatro Riachuelo in Rio’s city center.

This is set to be quite the concert, with twenty musicians on stage, many surprises in store, and plenty of Winehouse’s most famous hits, such as ‘Rehab,’ ‘Back to Black,’ ‘You Know I’m no Good,’ and ‘Valerie’ presented in unique instrumental arrangements created by musicians such as Marcelo Caldi, Jessé Sadoc, Ivan Zandonade and Alexandre Caldi.

Hailed as the first Brazilian orchestra to launch on the internet, Johann Sebastian Rio has been bringing a new audience to classical music with their inventive and interactive concerts, including a recent spectacle at Rio’s ‘Theatro Municipal’ (Municipal Theater) in honor of children’s day, which included violin courtesy of Brazilian prodigy Guido Sant’Anna, and tickets for as little as R$5.

The late British singer also holds a special connection to Brazil, as she stayed at the Hotel Santa Teresa, in Rio’s hilltop district of Santa Teresa, during the last year of her life, while she was preparing for her much anticipated Brazilian tour, which saw her perform in Recife, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
