Coming from Houston, Texas, Glasper has made a name for himself as one of the most exciting new jazz artists in America. His albums “Black Radio” and “Black Radio 2”, released in 2012 and 2014 respectively, both won Grammy Awards for their innovative blend of jazz, hip-hop, and R’n’B.

More recently he has released the 2015 album “Covered” which featured jazz-inspired covers of artists such as Radiohead, Joni Mitchell, and John Legend. In 2016 he released two albums, “Everything’s Beautiful” which features samples of Miles Davis, and “ArtScience” on the famous Blue Note record label.

He will be performing with his “Electric Trio” at the Theatro Municipal, accompanied by Burniss Travis on the bass guitar and Justin Tyson on the drums.

Together, the trio creates a genre-defying sonic patchwork reminiscent of the late seventies sounds of jazz legends such as Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock. They incorporate such instruments as the vocoder and evoke the musical production of some of the great jazz-fusion records from the genre’s golden age.
