RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Paulo Pagni, drummer of the band RPM, died this Saturday, 2nd, at 61 years of age. The information was confirmed by a press release published on the band’s official social network.
“Unfortunately we are saddened to announce the death of our beloved and eternal drummer, Paulo Antônio Figueiredo Pagni. Our brother left us a few moments ago, but his legacy will be eternally remembered. We ask for everyone’s sympathy in this moment of pain and positive vibrations so that his passage may be peaceful and bright.”
The musician’s cause of death was not disclosed. He was part of the RPM band since 1985. He had turned 61 on Saturday, 1st.
On the same day, Paulo Ricardo, former RPM vocalist, said that the musician suffered from Pulmonary Fibrosis. The singer explained a little more about the disease in his post.
RPM was a huge success in the 1980s, with hits such as “Louras Geladas,” “Olhar43”, “Rádio Pirata,” among other hits.
The band split up several times over the years. During one of these breakups, Paulo Ricardo formed the band PR.5, which counted on Paulo Pagni as a guitarist.
In 2019, the band announced a new tour, this time without Paulo Ricardo. Two vocalists were announced: Dioy Pallon, who also played bass, and guitarist Fernando Deluqui. Keyboard player Luiz Schiavon, one of the band’s founders, completed the team.
