The team at Baile do Ademar aim to present a complete night dedicated to the legend of Tupac Shakur. This promises to be a huge event with live performances, DJs, live demonstrations of street art, b-boys and breakdancing, video projections and much more, in what should be a great night for fans of the late rapper and for those who follow the Rio hip hop scene.

“On September 15th a great homage will be paid to Tupac Amaru Shakur, in sounds, words, videos and projections. Tupac requires no introduction.” announce the show’s organizers.

Carioca DJs such as DJ Jimmy Jay, DJ Tamy, Dree Beatmaker, DJ Goranmo, Mestre LP, and DJ Donny Jay will be providing the soundtrack of Shakur’s life, from New York in the late eighties, when hip hop was first emerging from the ghettos of the Bronx, Harlem, Brooklyn and Queens, through his journey to LA as a rapping prodigy, and the eventual East Coast-West Coast hip hop rivalry that claimed his life.

American expatriate Alex Barwinski from California, who is the managing partner of Blue Agave in Ipanema is a big Tupac fan and shares, “Tupac is a legend, there’s no one better than him in his prime – he IS West Coast hip hop.” He adds that Blue Agave has lots of Tupac on their bar’s playlist all the time.

What will also be celebrated at the Saturday event are the rapper’s poetic lyrics, whether expressing his anguish and dilemmas, his cries of pain and war, or just his wit and imagination that continue to inspire many fans and acolytes to this day. Nigerian MC Ayó Da Poet and Carioca singer Nanda O Nanda will be performing some classic Tupac songs live for the crowd.

There will also be skating demos courtesy of Ademafia, graffiti by Airá Ocrespo, Marcio Swk, and Kajaman, and b-boys and breakdancing led by Lucio Pedra. The Masters of Ceremony for the evening will be Ademar Lucas and MC Dom Negrone.
