Vinyl Fair Rio de Janeiro Returns to Flamengo on June 19th

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Feira do Vinil do Rio (Vinyl Fair Rio de Janeiro) will return to the Instituto Bennett in Flamengo on Sunday, June 19th from 11AM to 8PM for its first edition of 2016 in Rio’s Zona Sul (South Zone). Vendors include Rio stores, Tropicália, Satisfaction, Baratos da Ribeiro, and Mara Records, and São Paulo vendors Sensorial, Locomotiva, Zoyd, Big Papa, and Sonzera.

In addition to vendors from across Brazil selling LPs, EPs, CDs, turntables, audio accessories, and merchandise including t-shirts, among other items, and DJs spinning live throughout the day, this edition of the fair will pay tribute to Brazilian percussionist and composer Wilson das Neves, who is celebrating his 80th birthday this year.

During his career, Neves has played with more than 750 artists including Chico Buarque, Paulo César Pinheiro, Aldir Blanc, Martinho da Vila, and Moacyr Luz. Additionally, Neves has composed approximately 200 songs and released 13 albums.

To celebrate Neves’ work, during the fair, he will be awarded the “Feira do Vinil,” a trophy created by sculptor Norma Gantert. Additionally, Neves will be celebrated through the Encontro Box Beat. The event will bring together musicians, beatmakers, producers, and others to create beats and sounds that will be sampled in an album by Neves. The audience will get a chance to hear the creations during the end of the fair.

More the sixty exhibitors from across Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and the United States will participate during the upcoming edition.

Starting at 12PM, the sets of DJs spinning live will begin. Styles will include MPB, classic funk, groove, rock, and more.
