Friday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Tonight African reggae artist Alpha Blondy returns to Rio de Janeiro to launch his nineteenth album, Positive Energy, live at Circo Voador in Lapa.
Known for his politically conscious lyrics, Blondy has been referred to as the “Bob Marley of Africa” and the “The African Rasta.” His hit songs include “Jerusalem,” “Cocody Rock,” “Sébé Allah Y’é”, “Rendez Vous“, and “Brigadier Sabari.”
Tonight British singer and instrumentalist Mark Kelly will open the show and Dub Ataque, known for their parties in Rio, and DJ Calbuque Motoka, known for his Jungle and Drum And Bass sets, will close the night.
It promises to be a great event for reggae fans in Rio.
