Friday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Tonight, the American group Postmodern Jukebox performs in Rio de Janeiro for the first time. The show takes place at Vivo Rio, at 9PM.

Created in 2011 by American piano player and musical producer Scott Bradlee, the group is famous worldwide for its vintage renditions of contemporary pop hits.

The show promises to bring sophisticated jazz, ragtime, doo-wop, rhythm ’n’ blues and swing versions of songs like Radiohead’s “Creep”, Meghan Trainor’s “All about the bass”, among many others.


Metá Metá and Rakta (Lapa)
Tonight, two Brazilian experimental bands will be starring at Circo Voador: Metá Metá, with its Afro Brazilian hardcore repertoire, and Rafta, with its conceptual compositions.

Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox (Aterro do Flamengo)

Thirst #3 Flying Buff + Caliente (Copacabana)
The Caliente party debuts at Fosfobox tonight, with DJs Ian Garcez and Fabio Bout bringing the best of reggaeton, moombahton and dancehall. DJs from the Thirsty party will run the underground dancefloor.

Samba singer Luiza Dionísio will star tonight at Carioca da Gema, with renditions of samba classics by Luiz Carlos da Vila, Toninho Geraes, Clara Nunes, João Nogueira, among others. She will also perform songs from her recently released first album.

Lapa Loca (Lapa)
It’s time again for Lapa Loca at Leviano bar tonight. Singer Mar César will start off the night on the first floor performing a roda de samba with well-known samba classics. DJs Aílton Area and Ricardinho will be spinning the best of samba, funk, hip hop and electronic. The band Johnny’s will also be there performing the best tracks from the international rock scene.

Winehouse is a wine bar run by a British expat that has brought an eclectic range of wines to Rio including a mix of fabulous national wines and international favorites. There is also a great selection of nibbles and cheese boards. For those that aren’t too keen on wine, there is plenty of beer and cocktail options too. Happy hour begins at 5PM and finishes at 8PM.

Blue Agave Ipanema is always a great place for Mexican food, drinks and for watching live sport streams and broadcasts.
