LIVE:
Stuart Garside & The New York Brass Band @ The Maze (Catete) – Fresh from their Carnival storming bloco tour, The New York Brass Band will be playing the legendary jazz club The Maze tonight, with special guest Stuart Garside.

Rated as one of the best jazz venues in the world, The Maze is owned and run by British expat Bob Nadkarni, where they also serve authentic Indian curry to accompany the top-class music and stunning views.

Entrance is between R$40-R$50 and the night should get going at 10PM.

PARTY:
A Ressaca dos Unicórnios @ Zona Sul (Centro) – One last Carnival party before the big hangover? That’s what A Ressaca dos Unicórnios are promising, with plenty of glitter and a huge lineup of some of the bloco highlights.

The lineup includes Subacrew, Bloco 442, Tucho, Yasmin Vilhena, and Thai.

This party starts at 9PM and tickets are available from R$70.

LIVE:
Jorge Ben Jor @ Circo Voador (Lapa) – Jorge Ben Jor is playing Circo Voador with the support of Rio’s Carnival crowd. He will be joined by Bloco do Afrojazz this Friday, and for Saturday’s show, Bloco Vem Cá, Minha Flor will be getting the party started.

DJ sets will be provided by DJ Lencinho on Friday, and DJ Marcelinho da Lua on Saturday.

Tickets are available from R$60 and the show should start at 10PM.

LOUNGES, BARS & PUBS:

Winehouse (Botafogo)
Winehouse is a wine bar run by a British expat that has brought an eclectic range of wines to Rio including a mix of fabulous national wines and international favorites. There is also a great selection of nibbles and cheese boards. For those that aren’t too keen on wine, there is plenty of beer and cocktail options too. Happy hour begins at 5PM and finishes at 8PM.

Void/House of Food (Botafogo)
Blending culinary, drinks and fashion, the bar/store invites a different chef to prepare a new menu every week. Besides great imported beer labels, it usually serves delicious veggie food and homemade burgers.

Pavão Azul (Copacabana)
Pavão Azul is a lively bar in Copacabana, famous for its exceptionally cold beers and prawn pastels. It gets crowded there every night, making every day of the week seem like the weekend.

Canastra Bar (Ipanema)
The Canastra Wine Bar in Ipanema offers a great selection of wines and cheeses and is quickly becoming known for its nice atmosphere and friendly service.

Blue Agave (Ipanema)
Blue Agave Ipanema is always a great place for Mexican food, drinks and for watching live sport streams and broadcasts. Just around the corner from Posto 9, the bar is also known for its mostly English-speaking staff and crowd which frequents the establishment. Be sure to check out Blue Agave in Copacabana also for a great night out.
