PARTY:
Meu Baile é Neon @ Espaço Acústica (Centro) – Do you want to party in neon all through this holiday night? Then this is the event for you! Meu Baile é Neon are taking over the fantastic Espaço Acústica in Rio’s historic city center. This is going to be a huge party which includes a neon makeup stand, lots of fluorescent gifts distributed on the floor, a dark room on the mezzanine, plus a professional photographer to capture all the craziness, and much more!

The two dance floors will each be playing their own styles, so on dancefloor one you can expect to hear pop, classic pop, funk, plus plenty more hits. On the second dancefloor there will be some disney tunes (think Hannah Montana and Glee!) plus plenty of nostalgia and k-pop.

Tickets are between R$10 – R$20 and the event kicks off at 11:30 PM.

Meu Baile é Neon – Praça Tiradentes, nº 2 – Centro

Jazz da Glória @ Maya Café (Glória) – Every Friday it’s time for Jazz da Glória! Outdoors at Maya Café in Glória and amid the stunning architecture, Jazz da Glória takes place from 6PM-10PM on Ladeira da Glória 26, in the charming Villa Aymoré.

The event will kick off with a carefully selected jazz playlist for all listeners. Then the first set with the Allbrazz Quartet will be presenting re-readings of universal classics. In the second set an authentic jam session will take place with the musicians present. Every night is unique!

This event, which starts at 6PM, is free, but they depend on the patronage of the Maya Café and the contribution to the musician’s box to make the event viable. This event is baby friendly, pet friendly, and bike friendly!

DRINKS:
Caipi Sexta @ Caminhos Language Centre (Ipanema) – Once a month, Caminhos language centre sets up shop on the street and throws a hugely popular street party outside its building.

This is a place where students past and present, teachers, friends and many other expats all congregate to drink Caipirinhas and start the weekend with a bang.

All caipirinhas are only R$5 with students getting their first drink for free.

Except to meet plenty of friendly and interesting people speaking both English, Portuguese and many other languages. The party starts at 5PM but then usually moves to the popular Ipanema bar, Canastra, and then sometimes even onto legendary jazz club, the Maze.

This is a cheap, cheerful and sociable way to start the weekend.
