The Rio Times, Nightlife Guide, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Nightlife, Bars, Clubs, Parties

We have the top three picks for this Friday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

PARTY:
Mamãe Eu Quero Sarrar @ Teatro Odisséia (Lapa) – It’s Children’s Day but the night is still for the adults! In the most bohemian neighborhood of Rio, Lapa, Teatro Odisséia will be throwing a massive funk party for those that want to do nothing but drink and dance.

There will also be free shots, a sarrada challenge, a hot potato challenge, a cabininha (darkroom) and much more. On the decks will be DJs spinning the best of carioca funk, 150bpm, classic funk, pop, hits, plus a few surprises!

Tickets are between R$10 – R$30 and the night gets going at 11:30PM.

Mamãe Eu Quero Sarrar – Avenida Mem de Sá 66 – Lapa

LIVE:
Angela Ro Ro @ Teatro Ipanema (Ipanema) – It was alone with the piano that Angela Ro Ro officially presented herself to the public in 1979, before releasing her first album, in a legendary show at the Teatro Ipanema, in Rio de Janeiro.

Now the singer returns to her hometown; she will be celebrating her 69th birthday in December. Once again this show presents Ro Ro alone with a grand piano and with her usual irreverent style.

The show has a script based on the repertoire of the first and best album by the artist, Angela Ro Ro, released in 1979 – a year marked in Brazilian music by the boom of female composers like Fátima Guedes, Joyce Moreno, Marina Lima and Angela Ro – with a collection of songs that reconcile the desperate lament of the blues, the attitude of rock, the swagger and dramatic melancholy of samba.

Tickets are between R$30 – R$60 and the show will get going at 9PM.

Angela Ro Ro – Rua Prudente de Morais, 824 – Ipanema

There’ll also be an open bar and plenty of prizes. Tickets for this event also give you access to ‘Joy On Board’ which runs the next day from 2PM-8PM.
