LIVE:
Dianne Reeves @ Theatro Municipal (Centro) – Virtuosity, improvisational dexterity and her unique style of jazz and r’n’b have led Dianne to receive five Grammy Awards for Best Jazz Vocal Album, an Honorary Doctorate in Music from Julliard, and most recently the nomination as Jazzmaster of the National Endowment of the Arts in 2018.

‘Beautiful Life,’ Grammy Award-winning Dianne’s recent album, epitomizes the spirit of her extraordinary career spanning several genres. Adored by the public and critics around the world, Dianne Reeves will be joined by musicians Peter Martin, Romero Lubambo, Reginald Veal and Terreon Gully. The night gets going at 8PM and tickets are available for R$30-R$100.

PARTY:
The Glow Party! @ New Mariuzinn (Copacabana) – This is the Monday night party in Rio’s famous Copacabana neighborhood, with free caipirinhas until midnight, random tequila shots, and special promotions on beers and vodka energy drinks.

The music for the night will feature a live samba act. Then DJ Caue Campean, the resident DJ, will be spinning some house, hiphop and reggaeton, followed by DJ Dluccio who will spin everything from pop, to trap, to deep house.

If you’re looking for an upscale, big club experience, this promises to be the ticket. The dancefloor will be immersed in black light and they will be handing out everything from glow paint to glow bracelets and much more. The party starts at 11PM and tickets are between R$40-R$60.

Fernanda Santanna convida Rik Oliveira @ Leviano Bar (Lapa) – Fernanda Santanna has been taking up a residence every Monday at Leviano Bar, one the most famous musical venues in Lapa.

Santanna promises an eclectic repertoire of classic Brazilian music, going through different genres, from samba to rock, from bossa nova to northeastern music, from Tropicália to Clube da Esquina, while touching upon jazz, pop and even African music in her own modern style.

The public is invited to sing, dance and experience the essence of Brazilian live music without barriers. The night begins with a happy hour at 7:30PM and will be divided into three sets with Rik Oliveira taking the stage at 9PM. Tickets are R$10.

Winehouse (Botafogo)
Winehouse is a wine bar run by a British expat that has brought an eclectic range of wines to Rio including a mix of fabulous national wines and international favorites. There is also a great selection of nibbles and cheese boards. For those who aren’t too keen on wine, there is plenty of beer and cocktail options too. Happy hour begins at 6PM and finishes at 8PM.

Pavão Azul (Copacabana)
Pavão Azul is a lively bar in Copacabana, famous for its exceptionally cold beers and prawn pastels. It gets crowded there every night, making every day of the week seem like the weekend.

Blue Agave Copa (Copacabana)
As well as great drinks and authentic Mexican food, the Blue Agave bar in Copacabana is one of the best places to watch live sports. Make sure to check out the original Blue Agave located in Ipanema also.

Shenanigan’s (Ipanema)
With classic pub games like darts and pool, Ipanema’s Shenanigan’s is always a great spot to visit. Monday to Friday, Happy Hour is from 6PM to 8PM and Mondays are half-price steak nights starting at 8PM.

Nosso (Ipanema)
Located in a charming house at Maria Quitéria Street, its sophisticated drinks and dishes are undoubtedly worth a try. You will also enjoy Nosso if you are a rum lover: their rum drinks, with labels from Cuba and Jamaica, are the house specialties.
