Rio Nightlife GuideSaturday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – The Halloween festivities continue tonight in Copacabana, as Caminhos Brasil hosts this year’s edition of Halloween Festa Live in the Pura Vida Hostel. Last year’s event was huge with over 500 people attending, and this year looks set to be even bigger.

Highlights will include music from DJ Luizinho Ramos and a live concert from the band Hunna playing Foo Fighters, U2, Muse and more. Guests are encouraged to arrive early as there will be an open bar for the first hour, 9PM to 10PM, and as an extra bonus, those in costume enter for free until 11PM.

Halloween at Palaphita (Gávea)
Palaphita Gávea’s rustic garden will be drenched with Halloween-themed decor, a full open bar and DJs to keep the mood set from sundown until late into the night for the hundreds of expected costumed guests. Open bar includes; premium vodka, Red Bull, Red Label whisky, cachaça with honey, and Heineken beer.

Resistindo Desde 1997 (Botafogo)
Tonight, Bar Bukowski will host the party Resistano Desde 1997, bringing more rock and roll including a live performance from Bella Godiva with the best of rock from the 80s.

Sertanejo with Bruno Bonatto (Lagoa)
Voted the best club in Brazil by the magazine Cool Magazine and #35 in the top 100 clubs in the world, Miroir surrenders to the rhythm that conquered the locals and snatches a legion of fans in Zona Sul: Country in Lagoa with the singer Bruno Bonatto in addition to DJs playing hip hop, house, and funk.

Arruda at Rio Scenarium (Centro)
Tonight Arruda will perform at Rio’s iconic samba venue. Arruda was formed by friends from Vila Isabel in 2005 and are a favorite in Rio. With an authentic Brazilian music programming, with samba, choro, forró and MPB, Rio Scenarium hosts three shows on Friday and Saturday.

Ana Costa at Carioca da Gema (Lapa)
Ana Cristina da Costa is a Brazilian singer, songwriter and instrumentalist who performed at the opening ceremony of the Pan American Games 2007, singing alongside Arnaldo Antunes for the official song of the event. With three solo albums and over a dozen appearances, she is bona fide samba starlet.

Banda Black Bullets @ Lapa Irish Pub (Lapa)
It’s time for the best of classic rock as Banda Black Bullets returns to perform live at Lapa Irish Pub tonight. If you want to hear some great live music while drinking some quality imported beers in a welcoming environment with a friendly crowd, this the place to go.

Black Dog @ Saloon 79 (Botafogo)
The band, Black Dog will perform tonight with a tribute to Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. Additionally, DJ Trovão will spin the best of rock during the night.

Canastra Bar (Ipanema)
The Canastra Wine Bar in Ipanema offers a great selection of wines and cheeses and is quickly becoming known for its nice atmosphere and friendly service.

Bar 48 (Ipanema)
Located in the heart of the Ipanema neighborhood, Bar 48 (Quarenta e Oito) is one of the hottest new bars in the city. Owned and operated by French expats, the bar is making a name for itself by hosting live music, DJ sets and by offering a nice atmosphere and great mixed drinks including caipirinhas.

Blue Agave Ipanema (Ipanema)
Blue Agave Ipanema is always a great place for Mexican food, drinks and for watching live sport streams and broadcasts. Just around the corner from Posto 9, the bar is also known for its mostly English-speaking staff and the mostly English-speaking crowd which frequents the establishment. Be sure to check out Blue Agave in Copacabana also for a great night out.
